Thule 1976, summer

May 1984, we took a stroll after lunch, by the river with lot's of sun and lots of melting water from the inland ice.

June the 2nd, 1984 graveyard at Dundas - outside base, it's a special graveyard - due to the permanent frost in the dirt it's not possible to dig deep into the ground, in the summer typical less than 2 feet - then you put stones on top of the grave and also fence around the graveyard to protect against polar bears, and arctic foxes.

June the 2nd, 1984 outside base - Mount Dundas - without any snow. summer is just around the corner - and this is written the 10. of July 1984 - we have 30 degrees in the sun behind the cabin - and vi have 28 degrees inside. So a little tough to fall a sleep for the time being - so believe it or not: the weather is fantastic - you shall try it. Everybody writes home about and they thing we are crazy - so one of the barrack-maids took pictures of the others sunbathing in swimsuits - that close to the North Pole!!! Carsten was sun burned.
